On Saturday August 10th, Mission Graduates celebrated our Caerus Foundation Promise Scholars at Mau Restaurant. College Connect partners with scholarship foundations to bring additional college funding to our students. Through these scholarships, our Promise Scholars have been able to attend college loan free, and they were able to attend universities which might have otherwise been out of reach financially.
“Receiving this scholarship opened doors that I never thought I will be in. Now I have the resources that I need to succeed, and it gives me the opportunity to value my education even more, motivating me to do great things and make a change in my community. Receiving this scholarship turned what I thought was impossible to possible, that is to study in a good university. I will always be thankful and honor with the founders of this scholarship for making my dream come true.” – Allysson Sanchez, Cohort 5, freshman at UC Riverside
“The promise scholarship means the beginning of the remarkable life that I want to have. Meeting the protagonists of this celebration inspired me to give my very best in college that way some day I will be able to give back to my community as well. Everything was perfect and receiving brand new computers made it even better. I am very fortunate to be part of the Promise scholars, thank you so much!” – Astrid Rivera, cohort 5, freshman at UC Davis
During the dinner, Promise Scholars were honored to meet the family who funds their scholarships, and surprised to receive brand new laptops!
“Meeting the family that funds my scholarship was an honor! Being able to personally talk to them, shake their hands, and even hug them to show how much I was thankful for the amazing opportunity they have provided me was overwhelming. During the speech I was full of emotion with all the fascinating advices and pep talk we were given. I feel lucky to be part of such an amazing family’s lives and connect with them as if I am part of their family.” – Priscila Trejo-Martinez, Cohort 4, sophomore at SF State
