Anabell Gimena was born and raised right here in beautiful San Francisco. She likes and appreciates the diversity that San Francisco has to offer, as she says living in the city, “there is no choice but to be open.” For her there are so many people to meet and activities to take part in that people who live in San Francisco can’t help but be open to new and interesting things, “it’s like having a new experience everyday.”
Anabell currently attends Lowell High School and will be a senior in the Fall of 2014. She enjoys reading, attending musicals, plays, and is currently apart of the JROTC. This summer she is in a psychology program called Rams Summer Bridge Program, which gives her a chance to get to know more about the field of psychology and the different career paths it can lead to. In the future, she would like to have a career that intertwines the medical field and working with the community, so she plans to major in either nursing or social work.
Being a part of College Connect has created a support system for Anabell during a stressful time in her life. “Everyone’s arms are very open, and I can be my self. To them I’m not just a number, they are very supportive, and College Connect feels like a family to me.”
