Amelia M. Martínez-Bankhead joined the Mission Graduates Board of Directors in February of 2014 after being a volunteer coach/mentor and program evaluator with College Connect. She is a proud San Francisco native and has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years on local and state issues. She has focused in the areas of youth law, community health, financial development, immigration, and education.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration, both from the University of San Francisco. She recently joined the Human Rights Commission with the City and County of San Francisco as a Senior Policy Analyst working on the My Brother and Sister’s Keeper Initiative, and other education focused projects focused on improving equity in education.

From a family of immigrants and educators herself, Amelia has always supported Latino and immigrant communities. She believes in equity in education and human rights, believing that they are at the core of a strong and healthy society.
