The incoming 1st and 2nd graders explored the theme of weather for this year’s summer program. The class started off by learning about different seasons and created large paintings to demonstrate how seasons can look. Students also learned about appropriate clothing to wear outside depending on the weather. Students created posters of each season along with a paper doll of themselves and clothes for each season.
Next, students explored different types of weather in San Francisco such as the fog and clouds. We created a science experiment using hot water, ice and a jar to demonstrate how clouds form. Students also learned a “Water Cycle” song and completed different art projects with paint to review the water cycle. There will be a culminating event at the end of our 5 week summer program where students will prepare interactive weather games and activities for other classes to enjoy.
