“Today our hearts are heavy as we follow the news on the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School. Even though we are 1,400 miles away from Uvalde, TX, the senseless violence that led to the death of 19 4th grade students and two teachers feels close to home. Our schools should be safe. Our students—no matter how old, no matter in what neighborhood and no matter in what city—should feel safe.
We urge policymakers at every level, local, state and federal, to please keep children, students, families and communities of color in mind to create a path forward that will lessen and eliminate senseless gun violence. We at Mission Graduates send our condolences to those that have been affected and touched by this tragic event.”
