Jewelea joined the Mission Graduates Board of Directors in 2016, however, her relationship with Mission Graduates began when she joined the College Connect program in 2009 as a Junior in high school. Born and raised in the Mission District of San Francisco, Jewelea understands firsthand the experiences of the youth and families that Mission Graduates serves. As a youth involved in various community organizations, she began to connect her own educational journey to concepts such as social justice and equity.
Jewelea received a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Ethnic Studies at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in 2014. After receiving her degree, she returned back to her community in an attempts to support students the way she was supported throughout her adolescence. Jewelea is currently working as a College and Career Program Coordinator for Seven Tepees Youth Program, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering leadership skills in inner-city youth. Through her work, she supports high school students as they begin to plan and realize their goals of post-secondary education.
